After receiving a B.F.A. from Parsons School of Design, Melissa Maiorano worked in package design for Revlon Inc. Over the years, her watercolor paintings on onyx stone have been of major importance to her, leading to a variety of private and city commissioned work. She has also had the pleasure of illustrating two children’s books, “Harry Wesley Spencer’s Boots” and “Grandmother’s gift”.

A New Jersey native, she often finds inspiration among Hudson County’s uniquely beautiful shorelines, and has been an active member of the Hudson Artists of New Jersey for over a decade.

More recently, Melissa began teaching elementary school art in her hometown. Education has become a wonderful way to incorporate art into not only her own daily life, but also into the lives of others

“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” — Pablo Picasso
