Subtitled “Male Nudes, Together & Apart,” the sculptures and drawings on view represent embodied dialogues, internal and otherwise.
For the three central, quasi-narrative sculpture groups, Jeff Miller employed a single model for both figures. The implied relationship, here, is internal and frustrated; a rejecting mirror.
In the drawings, the implied relationship is variously fraught or formal or fulfilled. With the exception of a very large drawing, measuring 2 feet x 11 feet, and drawn from the artist’s imagination, all of the work on view was drawn or sculpted from life.
The present exhibition is Jeff Miller’s 5thsolo or semi-solo show at Atlantic Gallery.
