Tzinman & Iwasawa 2016

Max Tzinman

Wasteland

March 22 – April 16, 2016
Opening Receptions:
Thursday March 24, 2016, 5-8pm
Saturday April 16th, 2016 2-5pm

In his show of new work at Atlantic Gallery, Max Tzinman continues to explore mob mentality. ‘I am fascinated and repelled by the hypnotizing appeal of the Mob’, says Tzinman.

His disturbing images explore the danger of groupthink and the anonymity that accompanies the comfort of merging with the mob. The work asks us to contemplate: What drives this willingness to surrender individual truth, this willingness to accept the myth making all around us? Can we hold on to our individual humanity in the face of this drift towards conformity?

The works in the show start digitally, in two or three dimensions/dioramas, adding layers of mixed media (acrylic, oil, collage, metal) to create still structures and moving images, light and sound.

Max Tzinman was born in Romania and has lived in Israel, Canada and US, immersing himself in a multitude of cultures that influenced his artistic/philosophical concepts.

The Artist will be receiving visitors in person every Thursday, 5-8pm, and Saturday, 2-6pm, for the duration of the show

Asako

For me,nature is full of thrills and wonders and fuels my imagination. I am deeply moved and inspired by its power. Never content to merely depict what can be seen, my work actualizes its essence, recreating the spirit, dreams and desire of an ideal.

I think plants do dream like cats and dogs do.

In my new works for ‘What Do Plants Dream Of in 2016?’ I have investigate the Japanese spacial concept, to become one with the represented space. I invite you all to come and enjoy the experience.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Graduated from Tama Art University. Downtown Tokyo has hardly any greenery. Longing and passionate about nature, I decided to live as a farmer in the countryside. I spent 10 years waking up at the crack of dawn and toiling in the field before losing the battle with ever powerful weeds.

The artist will be receiving visitors in person every Thursday, 5-8pm, and Saturday,2-6pm, for the duration of the show.
