You Never Know What’s Around the Corner

October 29 – November 23, 2013

The works presented in the exhibition are landscapes, but not in the conventional sense of a staid scene. Rather they are distillations incorporating bits and pieces of visual information from a variety of places at multiple moments in time. Her direct response to the cacophony that bombards the senses on the streets of Manhattan, they reflect the artist’s compelling sense of adventure and optimism.

Working with a painstaking process utilizing cut paper, paint and ink, images are built up layer by layer. At the same time it is a spontaneous and forgiving method of working that allows for experimentation. Nothing is precious here as papers are cut, torn, glued, painted and smeared.

From NoHo to SoHo

October 29 – November 23, 2013

Having experienced life as a New Yorker both before and after 9/11, the time came for me to reflect upon the city as I saw it then and as I see it now. For years, my daily walks downtown took me beneath some of the outdoor public art of Manhattan – those enormous not-to-be ignored billboards above Lafayette Street. These mixed media paintings express my interpretations of New York City. The sizes vary from 48”x36” to 10”x10”.
